41 weeks - yikes
Have to update you from my last appt, and going into our next appt as I'm not sure I'll be able to post after that...hoping we are busy holding, caring for and loving our little son by then! Sorry for the long post....
My dr appt on Wednesday (12/24) was really uneventful. They do a BPP (biophysical profile) at each visit after 40 weeks, so this was the 2nd time they did it. This test includes fetal monitoring for about 20 minutes, and u/s (amniotic fluid check, heart check, and breathing practicing check) and cervix check. Little guy is strong and good, had nice heart activity and good practice breathing. I have a lot of amniotic fluid. Cervix was unchanged from last visit...bummer. He did say my next appt was Sat and that they don't usually let mothers go past 41 weeks, because "nothing good happens after 41 weeks." So, I will most likely be induced on Saturday if I don't go into labor on my own. He said if they tried to induce me today, he felt it would take at least 2 days of labor and they are really hoping my body does it on it's own. Suggested that sex was the only thing that might help now....(insert devil emoticon here!). As you know, he isn't my favorite dr, but he was fine for this appt and was good at explaining things, so that was comforting. The good news is that MY dr is on call on 12/25-26, and my 2nd favorite dr is on call on 12/27! I sooooo hope I go into labor between now and then. But, if I don't get my favorite drs, it will be okay!
So fast forward to today...41 weeks. I never in a million years thought I would be a week overdue. This was never in my plan...welcome to the life of having children...rarely do things go as planned, and this little guy is already controlling things! The good news is that I started having very light, regular contractions yesterday evening at about 7:45pm. (NOTHING at all like this since the previous Thurs and Fri!) They were pretty much non-painful about 7-10 minutes apart all night that lasted 30-60 seconds each. (Timed them on my iPhone with a cool contraction program!) I stopped timing them this am since they weren't changing, but was more excited that maybe some progress was being made. I only noticed them initially when (TMI alert) I was lying down resting and felt some pressure in my bum area that was cyclical. Not much change since then, but at least it's something more than NOTHING! I still see the dr tomorrow morning, and I think they're going to induce me at that point. I started drinking red raspberry leaf tea, so I wondering if that's helping. I'm also tempted to go to this place near my office that boasts the "labor" salad - women go there to have the dressing or something to induce labor. I'm not a huge believer in that, but, yikes, something has to happen soon, right??? I must say, after my 12am-2am awake period when I was timing, it was hard to go back to sleep because I was getting so excited that this might actually happen. (Yes, I know it will happen eventually, but am still nervous for induction and possible c-section, but always remember all that matters is healthy baby, healthy mom!)
So, that's my update. I'm feeling pretty hopeful now, and it's nice to at least see an end in sight. I have learned so much about myself these last few weeks of pregnancy, and I know I would go through anything to have this healthy baby resting in my arms...what a blessing that will be.
Happy holidays to everyone - thanks for sharing my journey with me!

40w3d - Dr Appt Update (???)
Not to keep anyone in suspence, but I am still pregnant and still no signs of labor. I did see the dr today though. Had a NST (non-stress test - tests stress level of fetus) and an ultrasound to see the size of the baby and if the amniotic fluid level is good. I'm happy to report that baby W is doing GREAT and is estimated at 7.5 lbs so far. The dr also said that he has LONG legs, which made me laugh! (I always joke with DH this little guy has long legs because he's such a strong kicker. Now I know I was right!!!) In any case, they also saw him practicing his breathing, so that was really good too. I was about 80% effaced, so not much progress there either. She said to come back in 2 days on 12/24 and that it was probably going to be an exciting Christmas for us! Boy, it's so hard just waiting!
The one thing I was disappointed with was having to schedule my next appt with my least favorite dr of the practice. His bedside manner is horrible, and he was the one who was wrong with the gender - he's the most experienced in the practice too. In any case, I know no matter what happens that I and my little man will be in good hands during the delivery and that even though I don't like this dr, he is very experienced with deliveries. Eye on the prize Yo - healthy baby, healthy mom. I did have a little meltdown in the car after the appt, and I'm not sure why, except hormones. DH helped talk me through it and made a joke that he, "can't until I'm off my 'crazy' pills after the pregnancy!" It's so funny because he's actually said that he can't believe how un-hormonal I've been throughout this entire pregnancy, so he really is joking when he calls me hormonal. I just love him - and feel lucky to have that support.
That's it for now...be back to post when I know more!
xoxo Yo!
PS - I'm laughing at my pregnancy "ticker" up there...it just stopped at 40 weeks and is no longer "ticking"! I think I'll add my FF one so people know how far along I really am!

40w2d - Pregnant Forever?
Just posting a quick post as NOTHING is happening yet. On Thurs and Fri, I had several non-painful contractions - probably 10-15 throughout the day. Then yesterday, I only had 2-3. This guy isn't wanting to budge! I keep walking a lot, bouncing on my birth ball, doing cat/cow exercises. Plus, he's sucking the nutrients all out of my system...I haven't been this low in weight since the middle of November. I am hungry a lot, but get full easily. Yesterday, I thought I ate the world and drank a ton of water, only to lose another pound. I'm not complaining and not worried, because I know he's still moving a lot and still getting bigger.
I've updated the belly slide show in the last post, so you can see my 40 week belly. I am huge. here is one more shot of the nekked belly. I had just gotten out of the shower, so my hair is wet and not cute, but oh well!

Other than that, slept very well last night and only was up for about 1 hour and ended up with 8 hours of sleep. My swelling is WAY down - you can actually see my ankles, so I am very pleased with that. Now, if only this little guy would let us see his face!
That's all from me for now. Going out to have some fun with DH while we still can! Love to you all!

39 weeks - wow
Then me with one of my kitties - Sophie, who weighs 9lbs. Boy, I hope I don't have a 9lb baby!

A front shot of the belly:

And, if I can, here is the video of the little guy moving!
The good part comes around 49 sec, and you really see a jump of the belly!
Okay, that's it for tonight. Love to all!

36w3d - too much to do and too little energy!
Gosh...so sorry I've been so remiss in posting. We've been working soooo hard getting our nursery put together, plus regular work, plus being 8 months pregnant and having less and less energy. But, today is a good day, and I am feeling pretty good.
First, let's show you the nursery! This room started as an office with 2 tall file cabinets, big long table desk, coffee table / seating area, bookshelves, etc. I don't know if I have a before picture, but when you see these, you'll be able to imagine I think. So, it's called a "den" by our apartment complex, but besides not having a wall, it's kind of it's own room. So brilliant DH came up with a good idea of adding curtains to really make it more of a room. It's perfect! Now, it can be a nursery / guest room, and gives our guests privacy. We also have a pack and play in our bedroom that has a bassinet, so we will have baby W sleep there for the first few months. Okay, here comes the show!
DH and I will celebrate Thanksgiving together just relaxing, cooking and watching football. I work on Friday, so it will be nice to just spend it quietly together. We need a bit of R&R after putting together the nursery, so we're really looking forward to Thursday. I'll make a small turkey (is there such a thing???), our favorite stuffing, and some kind of veggies. I'm so excited!
Okay, that's it for this post. I'll try to be better at chronicling the last few weeks of my pregnancy a little better than I have been. Now that we're more ready for things, hopefully I'll have more time.
Love to you all, and I hope your Thanksgiving is blessed!

33w6d - 35049
Okay, first of all, must address the number above. It's my PT license. Yes, got it in the mail today. WOW! I am a REAL Physical Therapist! All my hard work has paid off. I feel super lucky because I love my job, and really enjoy helping people.
Next, the size of the belly. How could I have thought I was "big" at 27 weeks. To refresh your memory, scroll down a couple of posts and see for yourself. Well, here is how "BIG" I am now...and I guess that means in the next 6 weeks, I just keep getting bigger! This whole process and change is a miracle and I feel so blessed. Yes, it's not without it's hardships, but everything I've gone through so far is completely worth it. (Sorry they're a little blurry, but I like the natural / non-flash light best, but our camera doesn't focus so great like this. We're getting a new one for the birth that is BETTER AND has video. Yay!)
Here's the side shot!
Well, cankles and swollen hands come and go, but at least my weight is levelling off a bit. I have probably gained about 1 lb in the past 3 weeks. I'm measuring just fine though, and I am not worrying AT ALL about what I eat, except being semi healthy and getting enough MILK (aka calcium as my little guy tries to steal this away from momma), fruit, veggies, and protein. Oh, does chocolate ice cream count for semi healthy? Well, I'm getting enough of that too. Oh, one good thing, I like yogurt again! I've always loved yogurt, but really hated it until about 3 weeks ago. Another good way to get in calcium.
The other thing I should mention for moms following me, think about carrying antacids with you. I will get random heartburn, and this is helping for now. There is no warning when it will come, so having some in your purse is a life-saver!
We took the first of our 2 prepared birthing classes on Tuesday, so I feel better about knowing when to go to the hospital once I reach 37 weeks. I have a feeling I'll be pregnant until 41 weeks or so, but whatever this little guy wants is what he gets. Spoiled already!
That's it for now. Hopefully, I'll be able to post more and to show pics of the nursery once we start it. We've had 2 wonderful showers, so I'll try to post pics once I get them. We got tons of GREAT stuff, and I can't believe we'll have a little one soon that will need all of this stuff.
Oh, and, I finally started packing my hospital bag! Still need some items, but have a good selection there now, so am feeling better about that.
Love to you all!

32w2d - Great Weekend!
This will be a pretty quick post, but wanted everyone to know I had a WONDERFUL shower this weekend! My friend Mary hosted such a nice event and I was so happy to have a chance to hang out with all my close friends. I don't currently have pics - my SIL and Mary have them, but I'll post when I get them. In the meantime, here are some new belly pics!
Here's the latest belly slide show:
Oh, and one more thing (just for posterity) - I PASSED MY BOARD EXAMS! YAAAAY!
Okay, gotta run. Love to you all!

30w0d - a little behind, 10 more weeks!
I'm not posting much because I'm trying to get ready for my board exams in 11 days! I'm taking it on Tuesday, Oct 21 - please send me all your good thoughts on that day! Oh, and I passed my California Law Exam that I took last week, so that's good!
Okay, so I'll take a "real" belly pic tomorrow with the same shirt I've been using in the slide show, but here are the "naked" belly the past few weeks. The first one is at 27 weeks, and the second one is at 30 weeks. I can't believe I'm going to get even bigger...people are now starting to "really" ask me when I'm due, and I think they expect me to say, "Oh, in 2-3 weeks." They seem surprised that it will be December. I think it's because we rarely see women in their last few months! Okay, here are the photos. Love to you all!
30 weeks!

28w4d - 80 days to go and MORE pics!
Wow...I've been posting a lot lately! Well, only 80 more days and I can't believe how quickly it's going. Cankles have become ankles again thanks to drinking lots of water, keeping my feet up, and cooler weather. Makes me happy to see them again!
Here are the u/s pics from Sunday's elective u/s. He was 28w2d here. I think you can tell what most of the pics are, but I have labeled several that were a bit hard to see. It seems we might have a thumb-sucker on our hands. For most of the u/s, he wanted his R hand near his mouth trying to suck his thumb, and he loves his L arm up and over his head. He assumed that position in the previous 3D u/s too! I'm curious to see if that's how he sleeps after he's born. Okay, here's the proud mother showing off her little one!
Hands Covering Face
Face
Sucking Thumb
Left Arm Above Head - Favorite Position!
R Arm by Chin, L Arm by face - Favorite Position
Well, that's it for now. Hope everyone is doing great!

28w2d - New Belly Slide Show
Okay, so I've been remiss on taking belly shots for the past 3 weeks, but we have just been so darn busy! But, there is DEFINITELY a change in my belly since the last shot - here you go! (Remember, some times it take a few cycles to load - just let it cycle a few times. Should go up to 28 weeks!)
We're getting an elective u/s today and I'll have more 3D pics to post...can't wait to see my little guy again. He's moving so much now - I can't believe it when I look at my belly and it morphs into different shapes!
Oh, we went on our first hospital tour and it made everything seem much more real. We're deciding between 2 hospitals and our 2nd tour is Oct 8. The hospital we went to yesterday has private LDR rooms (labor, delivery, recovery) that you're in until about 2 hours after the birth, and FREE private postpartum rooms. They have fold out chair-beds for DHs, and you can send the baby to the nursery anytime you need a break. I can't believe I'll be holding my little one in mid-to-end December...best birthday/Christmas present EVER! (Due date is Dec 19...birthday is Dec 14.)
Okay, that's it for now...I'll be back later to post some u/s pics! Hugs and love to everyone!

27w3d - Lost the Game...but Won the Fashion Show!
Well, had to do a quick post to show everyone the shirt I had made for our UCLA football games! If you don't know the story, here goes. Season ticket holders were given this shirt to wear to games:
Well, I came up with this idea...I could have a similar shirt made using a maternity shirt, putting the saying "UCLA Bruins" from the front of the shirt on the back of the maternity shirt, and the saying from the back of the shirt on the front of the maternity shirt...so I came up with this:
SHIRT I HAD MADE!
"Champions Made Here"
Well, it went over so well! At least 50% of the people we passed either said something directly to me about how cute it was, or we saw them tap the person they were next to and overheard them tell the other person to look at the shirt and how cute it was! I was so happy with how it turned out. DH LOVED it too and wouldn't let go of my hand, which made me smile too! He loved the attention we got and was proud to "flaunt" me around! Bummer that our team lost so badly...well, it is a rebuilding year with new coaches. We just can't wait until basketball season! ;-)
Other than that, I'm getting bigger and bigger...keep forgetting to take a weekly belly pic, but will definitely do one next weekend. I'm finding that I get tired more easily and I have a touch of morning sickness back - didn't know that could happen, but I guess my progesterone rises again to prepare my bbs for breastfeeding. I also get low back pain if I do too much, which happened yesterday when I decided the bathroom needed to be cleaned thoroughly! Sleep is a bit harder as well, but I think I'm managing so far. Nice that I am working part time so I can make sure of that!
Oh, got the paper saying I'm eligible to take the board exam, so the next step is to schedule this puppy! I am hoping I can do it on Oct 7 or 14...I have to log on to see! I so can't wait until I am DONE studying for good and I can relax and look forward to just having this baby!
Well, that's all for now. Love to everyone!

27w0d - Naked Belly Picture!
Okay, so I've been a lot more tired lately, but I think it more due "stuff" happening than the pregnancy. Neighbor played video games from 1am-4am (our rooms have a common wall), DH had to get up for work at 4:30am for a special project. But, I am pooped today! It hasn't affected me at work, but when I get home at 2pm after starting at 7am, I feel like I have to nap!
One word about work - I have a patient who has a very-likely terminal condition. I am treating this person for an orthopedic problem. I so admire him and his wife because they are so positive. I pray for him to get better, but I know that it may not happen. The most I can do is to help him live a better life right now and to not be afraid of his disease. I feel blessed every day that I can work with this person and am blessed that he is in my life. I hope that I can be a shining light like he is to someone some day.
Okay, enough about that, here is the naked belly shot. I've been afraid until now because I just feel fat, but I kind of like this picture:
Hope everyone else is doing well. Shout out to Monty - you are so normal for having ups and downs, and I hope that your "break" from online stuff helps you take a step back. I also can't wait for the day I can celebrate your pregnancy with you and to help you through the uncertainty of the initial stages. You are a strong woman, and I admire you.

26w5d - WHAT? 3rd Trimester Already?
Okay, so I just noticed the my babygaga ticker showed me in my last trimester as of today. WHAT? REALLY? Are you sure? I did the math, and 40 weeks divided by 3 = 13.33 weeks per trimester x 2 = 26.66667 to end the 2nd trimester...I guess that math works out. Wow, the 2nd trimester went so fast. Okay, so I hear that the last trimester gets pretty hard, but so far so good...even though I'm probably hours into it! I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that I can continue to work and feel pretty good.
Cankles are doing much better. I've been watching my salt intake, went in a nice cool pool yesterday, drinking lots of water, and wearing TED hose at night occasionally. Yes, the kind of stockings that you see old people wear in hospitals to reduce swelling. But, as a physical therapist, I would suggest this to my patients, so it should work for me too!
We're just now starting to schedule hospital visits and birthing classes...word to those who are PG out there...DO THIS EARLY. You can always cancel the appts or change them, but at least it will be on your calendar and not get in the way of stuff. The third trimester comes so much! quicker than you realize.
My back pain has been better lately and I think exercising is helping. Sleeping is still tough, but I'm managing at least 7 hours a night...even though I wake up frequently. Rolling over is getting harder, but using pillows helps. The carpal tunnel / ulnar nerve issues are still there, but I'm managing them pretty well. My little guy is kicking up a storm lately and it's fun. It took a while to get used to, but I'm embracing it more. I can imagine it feels "lonely" after the birth.
Well, that's it for now...must get back to studying. I just wanted to welcome in my third trimester with a posting. Love to everyone who reads - feel free to post a comment! Just had my first "random" comment from a nice person with twin boys! (I had no idea people other than my "message board friends" were reading, but I welcome any new faces. Just hope I can help people in their journey by sharing about my experience from TTC to birth.) So thanks to all the lurkers!

25w5d - 100 days left...and cankle pics!
Okay, this will be short today, but...
100 days left!
How has time gone by so fast? I can't believe I'll have my baby boy in 100 days. I feel blessed by all those who have helped me so far in this journey.
Okay, as promised, here is a picture of the cankle:
This is my left ankle with me pushing my thumb into the flesh.
This is the thumb print I made and the lack of an ankle bone!
Other than that, I'm doing great. Dr appt yesterday was awesome - got to see the little guy again! My dr told me I would probably swell for the rest of the pregnancy, and that as long as I wasn't gaining a ton (of water) and that my blood pressure was good, there was nothing to worry about. She said there's a good level of amniotic fluid and the baby was active...she also said we need to pick a hospital soon!
That's it for now. Love to all!

25w2d - Life is good!
Okay, just had to share what DH and I did this afternoon. After having a lovely brunch, we went to:
Now my little guys is kicking up a storm...hummm....wonder why? Couldn't be all that sugar mom just ate, could it? Ha-ha!
And, here is my updated belly slide show. I'm getting bigger and bigger. Funny, even when I think I'm "huge" already, I'm still pretty little for being pregnant. 15 more weeks will definitely put on some more girth.
DH spoils me and we're going to start working on the nursery set up today. It will be a long process, but I'm very excited.
Oh, and I got a new job and started working last Friday! I work as a PTLA (physical therapist license applicant) and will take my board exams sometime in the beginning of October. I really need to get my butt studying! (I've started...a few girlfriends and I go the the library a few times per week for 4-5 hours.)
That's it for now. Life is good and I feel blessed.

24w4d - What did you just say???
"Interesting" story that made me super mad...
DH and I were at a football game yesterday night, and our team was winning until the last play when the other team tied the game as time ran out. We sit in the same season-ticket seats every year, and kind of "know" the people around us. After the play, one of the older men in our area turns around to me and says, "This is HIS fault!" with a laugh and pointing towards my belly.
WHAT???
I said something dumb back to him about how my baby was screaming just like the rest of us for our team to block the play.
I can't tell you how protective/angry I felt that he would imply that my baby "cursed" the game. You would "blame" and unborn fetus even as a joke??? What is that about???
I know my hormones played a huge part in how I felt, and once I calmed down know that how I felt was an over-reaction, but don't ever say something like that about my child. It was the first time during the pregnancy that I felt like a lion protecting her cub. Don't you DARE ever say something like that about my little one.
I'm doing fine with it now, and know he just didn't realized that his "joke" was NOT funny, but was interesting to feel that kind of protective reaction about my little almost 25-week developing fetus.
Other than that, my "cankles" are doing okay after spending 9 hours at a football game, the left one has more swelling than the right. I'll put on some more kinesio tape to help it and keep them up when I can. I've also been very careful to stay away from salty items to not add to the problem.
Today, I'm sitting at home waiting for my possible employer to call me with an offer. I think the call should come before 11am, and am VERY excited at the possibility of working soon. I so want to be a financially contributing member of my household...oh yeah...and getting paid to do something I LOVE to do! Bonus!!!
That's it for now...thanks for letting me share my story.
xoxo Yo!

23w4d - cankles
Well, since I'm trying to make this a diary too, I wanted to report on what's happening with my body right now.
Well, on my trip to Santa Clara and San Francisco, I did pretty good. The little bean is becoming quite the kicker! It is fun to feel, but a little strange too. He'll usually have a bout of activity for a day or so, then a day or two of quiet, then back and active again. Even the quiet days I feel the little movements...and, I think the other night I felt him have the hiccups! It was regular light motion that wasn't like a kick...too cute.
The other side of pregnancy is the physical aspect. When I was away, I forgot to bring my spray-on Palmar's cocoa butter oil. With that and using hotel soap that dries you out, my belly felt so stretched! When I took a shower this am, I used it again and feel so much better. I also had a hot dog yesterday and I think the salt is making me swell as I now have cankles! (Calf Ankles!) I'll go and elevate them soon when I'm done posting!
Other than that, I am feeling pretty darn good and feel lucky so far. I am actually enjoying the pregnancy much more than in the 1st trimester and have some good energy. I was worried I was going to not like being pregnant, but for now, it's kind of fun. (I know, I know...just wait until the 3rd trimester...well, I'll just enjoy this while I can!)
I got a ton of clothes from my good friend in SF, a stroller, a bumbo, a vibration seat, sheets and bumpers, a doorway bouncy seat, boppy pillow, infant tub, changing pad, and a restaurant travel seat. Some other friends are giving us a crib, high-chair and other items, so we're doing pretty good so far! I think I might get my SF friend's breast pump too, and I know it's a nice one. I know those can be super expensive, so I'm so happy about that!
Okay, I was going to make this short, but it's become a novel! Love to everyone and hope you're all doing great. Now to go prop my ankles up!
xoxo Yo!

22w5d - Happy Anniversary to DH and Me!
Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful dinner, watched three episodes of Mad Men and snuggled a bit. I have the BEST DH ever and feel so lucky every day.
We're super excited about our little guy who continues to kick up a storm in my nether regions, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
I feel truly blessed.

22w2d - Way Cool U/S!!!
Well, we did the 3D / 4D ultrasound yesterday to see if we could get a better look at our little guy's goods, and wow, it was sooooo cool! There was little doubt that this was a little guy:
And, here are some other cool photos in 3D:

We were soooo happy when the sonographer said (without prompting) that we were DEFINITELY having a boy - she showed us his parts multiple times! He was super cute and we got a nice video that I'll post when I figure out how to do it!
In other news, I finished my internship and my CI was very complimentary of my work. I am going in on Aug 27 to talk to them about being hired. He said that I had gone above and beyond the duty in my work, had good patient treatment and he really would like me to be a part of their clinic. Makes me soooo happy that I will finally be working again after 3 long (quick!) years!
That's it for now - I'll post more later but had to share our pictures. We are super happy and are really going to be enjoying the pregnancy as much as possible from now on. We definitely feel blessed in life.
Love to all!

22w1d - New Belly Shot
Well, we're going in for an elective u/s today to see if we can see some of the "goods" on our little boy. This one will be higher resolution than my dr's office and will be in 3D/4D. I will post a video of it and pictures as well. I LOVE that we can do this type of thing nowadays!
Oh, and here's the slide show with my latest belly picture...I don't think the shirt I chose to do these shots in will work for to many more weeks! It's starting to creep up and might not cover my big ole belly soon!
Love to you all!
xoxo Yo!
